Despite the game taking place in another state, hundreds of fans cheered the team on from home at various watch parties. One of them took place outside George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston.
“The game was hype,” fan Derrick Landor said. “We made it to the next level.”
Fans were seen sporting their red and white attire. There were even surprise fireworks in front of the big screen once the buzzer went off.
“I’m so glad that the whole team has taken a lot of new heights and new momentum,” UH sophomore Vincent Truong said.
The last time the Cougars made it to the Final Four was in 2021. Fans tell KPRC 2 they believe this time the Coogs could take a national title all the way home.
“We’re definitely going to be seeing them in the championship. No one can stop us,” said Truong.
The Cougars will face off with the Duke Blue Devils in San Antonio next weekend. First tip is scheduled for 7:49 p.m. Saturday night.
