How much money does Rory McIlroy win for winning The Players Championship?

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla — Exactly how much money will Rory McIlroy, the winner of 2025 Players Championship, win in tournament prize money?

The Players Championship is the PGA Tour’s biggest purse of the season, with $25 million up for grabs. McIlroy will receive $4.5 million as the winner of the tournament, while J.J. Spaun will get $2,725,000 for being the runner-up.

Along with the gold trophy and prize money, McIlroy will receive a five-year exemption into The Players and a three-year exemption into the four majors (The Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and The Open Championship, also known as the British Open).

The exemptions mean McIlroy is able to participate in the tournaments without needing to qualify for them through playing in a separate qualifying tournament or meeting specific criteria.

In a three-way tie, Lucas Glover, Tom Hoge and Akshay Bhatia finished in third place for The Players; they each will earn $1,325,000.
