Is McDonald’s open or closed on Easter Sunday 2025?
Although a lot of Easter menus include items like ham, some people have a hankering for fast food on holidays.
According to USA Today, yes, McDonald’s is open on Easter Sunday.
In addition, many other fast-food restaurants are also open on the holiday, USA Today reported, including Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Dairy Queen.
There are a few restaurants that are not open on Easter. They include Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Cava, and Zaxby’s, according to USA Today. Of course, Chick-fil-A is famously never open on Sundays, and Easter falls on April 20, 2025.
Some retailers are open, and some are closed as well. For example, Target, Costco, and Aldi stores are closed, whereas Walmart stores are open. Starbucks and Walgreens stores are generally open. It’s always a good idea to check with an individual franchise directly because sometimes individual store hours can vary by location.
According to the National Retail Federation, Easter is a big consumer holiday as well as a religious one.

Consumer spending was expected “to reach a total of $22.4 billion this Easter,” the Federation wrote in 2024. “The total figure is the second highest in the survey’s history, after last year’s record-setting $24 billion when the holiday fell nine days later in the year,” the site reported.
“Each year, Americans look forward to the celebration of Easter and the renewal of time and traditions with loved ones,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said in a news release. “Retailers understand the importance of this holiday and are ready to help their customers find the items they want and need at affordable prices.”
