STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — “Saturday Night Live” fans will have to wait a little longer for another new episode.
The late-night variety sketch show, which in its historic 50h season, will air a repeat for the second weekend in a row.
On Sept. 28, the show kicked off its 50th season with actress Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll. On Oct. 5, stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze hosted with musical guest Coldplay. It was Bargatze’s second time hosting.
On Oct. 12, singer-songwriter and actress Ariana Grande hosted for the second time with musical guest Stevie Nicks. Award-winning actor Michael Keaton hosted on Oct. 19, while Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish took the stage as a musical guest. It was both Keaton and Eilish’s fourth time on “SNL.”
On Nov. 2, stand-up comedian and actor John Mulaney hosted for the sixth time with pop singer Chappell Roan as a musical guest for the first time. Comedian and actor Bill Burr made his second appearance as host on Nov. 9, with musical guest Mk.gee.
On Nov. 16, singer-songwriter Charli XCX worked overtime as both host and musical guest. It was her first time hosting. On Dec. 7, Irish actor Paul Mescal hosted with musical guest Shaboozey. It was both Mescal and Shaboozey’s first time on the show.
On Dec. 14, actor-comedian Chris Rock returned for the fourth time as host, with first-time musical guest Gracie Abrams. On Dec. 21, actor-comedian Martin Short returned as host for the fifth time, with second-time musical guest Hozier.
On Jan. 18, 2025, “SNL” returned for the new year with stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle as host and GloRilla as musical guest. Actor Timothée Chalamet pulled double duty as both host and a first-time musical guest on Jan. 25.
On Feb. 16, “SNL” hosted a three-hour anniversary special celebrating 50 years with iconic stars and live musical performances from New York. Guest appearances were made by Martin Short, Sabrina Carpenter, Pedro Pascal, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks and numerous other stars featured on the show over the years.
On March 1, Shane Gillis hosted “SNL” for the second time, with Tate McRae as a second-time musical guest. On March 8, Lady Gaga pulled double duty as host and musical guest.
“SNL” fans will be excited to know that former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, is still at the desk.
Joining Jost for Season 50 is his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Michael Che, along with Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang.
Featured players Marcello Hernández, James Austin Johnson, Michael Longfellow, Sarah Sherman and Devon Walker have also returned. “SNL” also welcomed three new cast members for Season 50: Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline.
In late summer, Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney and Chloe Troast announced on social media that they were not asked back. Johnson had been a cast member for four seasons, Kearney had been a featured player for two years, and Troast had just wrapped up her first year.
