Jess Hilarious addressed her frustrations with The Breakfast Club head-on last night (March 18) in an Instagram Live rant, and the crew reconvened this morning (March 19) to speak about what went down. Her sentiments largely regarded Loren LoRosa and her extended stay as a guest host, as she initially stepped in to fill in for Jess during maternity leave. Now, the two women are clearing the air about where they both stand.
“The issue is the whole narrative,” Jess began. “It’s not all about [the comments], it’s about how I’m feeling, too.”
LoRosa spoke about how while she was watching Jess air out her grievances, she was surprised by some of the things that were said. “I can understand some of where you was coming from, but bro, some of that Live was crazy,” LoRosa said. “The part about the ‘hush’ and ‘be quiet.’ I be feeling in real-time that ‘be quiet,’ that was crazy. That ‘shut up.’”
She also spoke about previously having a private meeting with Jess and the show’s EP, Eddie. She agreed with they were “fighting for air time” and asked what she can do better as a producer to avoid the on-air clash. Jess said she does not recall Loren expressing that.
The comedian responded by explaining why she has told Loren to “hush” during the legendary show before, saying she feels she shouldn’t have to fight for her time if the role was initially hers. “You over-talk,” she opined. “Like I said, I’m not about to be up here fighting for no mic. If I already got the job, what am I doing?”
After Loren said she’s a “grown a** woman” and her mother doesn’t even tell her to “shut up,” she reminded Jess she told her early on she prefers to handle conflicts within the cast privately.
Jess explained that she has always championed Loren’s skills, adding, “You’re here because of an opportunity that I extended. I’m not sitting here that you deserve to be here… I ain’t ever said you should’t be here. I said, shorty do the job amazing. That’s why I said, I want it to be her segment. Pushed for that.”
In Jess Hilarious’ initial rant, she explained how she felt blindsided by the changes in the show after she came back from maternity leave. She also shared she felt her co-hosts never stuck up for her against criticism. “We supposed to be a team, but not one person comes to my defense at all, ever,” she said in her video. “With this online sh*t. I feel played with, so I’m gonna play with gas.” Jess made it clear that her issue wasn’t with LoRosa but more with the constant miscommunication behind the scenes.
She also defended her predecessor, Angela Yee, who left the show in 2022 after 13 years. “Angela Yee ain’t that motherf**king crazy,”* she stated. “Not as crazy as n**gas try to make her out to be. There’s a reason that lady wanted to leave that show… I don’t know how she did that sh*t for 13 years.”
