(WJAR) — Tuesday will mark one of the final hearings before Karen Read’s re-trial starts.

The Bristol County woman is accused of backing into her Boston police officer boyfriend and leaving him to die.

Read’s second trial is just weeks away, both sides have been filing dozens of motions to decide who can testify and what evidence can be presented to a jury.

On Monday, the commonwealth asked the court for a buffer zone and an order prohibiting signs or clothing in favor of either party or law enforcement during the re-trial.

You may remember during Read’s first trial supporters on both sides had to stay out of a 200-foot buffer zone around the Dedham courthouse.

The prosecution is also asking the court to prevent the introduction of a third-party culprit defense.

Read’s attorneys claim she was framed and victim John O’Keefe was beaten up at a Canton party.

Read’s second trial is still expected to start on April 1st.
