Looking for a good burrito in El Paso? Try these restaurants, deals on National Burrito Day

Do we really need an official day to celebrate the burrito?

Apparently, we do, as National Burrito Day is Thursday, April 3. So if you had a burrito for lunch yesterday, have one today for dinner!

And if you need an incentive, Taco Bell, Allsup’s and Chipotle are offering tasty deals to draw your attention.

Chipotle is making it easy to order a burrito by offering a $0 delivery fee to all Chipotle Rewards members ordering via Chipotle.com, Chipotle.ca and the Chipotle app with code “DELIVER.”

And just to make it five fine places, we’ve added two local favorites to the mix.

Chipotle

Chipotle is returning its popular digital game, Burrito Vault, to give away more than 150,000 BOGO entrée codes ahead of National Burrito Day.

Beginning at 9 a.m. ET on Monday, March 31, Chipotle Rewards members in the U.S. and Canada can access the Burrito Vault game by visiting UnlockBurritoDay.com.

“Players must guess the exact burrito order combination, ingredient by ingredient, to unlock the bank,” the company said in a news release Monday. “Prizes are available for the first 2,500 Chipotle Rewards members who successfully decipher the Burrito Vault Code each hour.”

The Chipotle Mexican Grill celebrates its grand opening in Pensacola with a cake shaped like a giant burrito. Chipotlle

Chipotle Rewards members who unlock the vault after all the BOGO codes have been redeemed will receive 25 rewards points in the app, the chain said.

Allsup’s

Allsup’s, which recently opened on the edge of El Paso, just inside Chaparral, N.M., is also getting in on the fun.

The iconic convenience-store/gas station chain, at 1510 State Line Road, is offering its World Famous Beef & Bean Burrito and a Tallsup for only $1.99 all day with Yesway & Allsup’s Rewards.

More than 27 million Allsup’s burritos are sold annually at more than 400 Yesway’s convenience stores, including at more than 300 Allsup’s stores. The Chimichanga, or Chimi, burrito is among several of the chain’s famous deep-fried burrito choices.

Taco Bell

Are you a Taco Bell rewards member? If so, you can get a burrito for $2 if you spend $15 or more.

Rafa’s Burritos

With various locations around town, Rafa’s Burritos is a morning stop for many El Pasoans on their way to work. You can order a regular-size burrito or the big one that gets you through dinner.

Favorite fillings include chile verde, deshebrada a la Mexicana and chicharron verde.

La Gorda

La Gorda, a local restaurant with several locations, including 9525 Viscount Blvd., 1491 Lee Trevino Drive and now on Eastlake Boulevard, is always busy making fresh tortillas and rolling burritos. Popular fillings include steak ranchero, barbacoa and mole.
