LSU baseball fans watched Sweet 16 game vs. NC State on jumbotron during weather delay

The LSU women trailed at halftime 40-36 to the Wolfpack in the first scoreless half from star junior guard Flau’jae Johnson in years. She scored her first basket with approximately 6:30 to go in the third quarter.

LSU and NC State were playing at a neutral site in Spokane, Washington, a 33-hour drive and seven-hour connecting flight from Baton Rouge.

Players on Skip Bertman Field also tried passing time during the delay by bringing out snacks in the dugout, and Mississippi State athletes organized an impromptu game of mini-golf, using unworn cleats as holes, a baseball and bats as putters.

The Tigers eventually began to warm up in the outfield again around 7:45 p.m. as the tarp still covered the infield. If the delay ends tonight, the earliest the teams will take the field is at 8:15 p.m., according to The Advocate LSU baseball beat reporter Koki Riley.

Until then, players will attempt to stay warm, and fans will continue watching the women’s basketball team in making a third-straight trip to the Elite 8.
