No one’s the boss of Erik Per Sullivan now. Per Deadline, Disney+’s Malcolm In The Middle revival has recast the role of Dewey due to Sullivan’s retirement from acting. Sullivan retired in 2010 and wasn’t expected to make a triumphant return for the reunion series. Instead of Sullivan, the returning cast, including Frankie Muniz, Justin Berfield, and Christopher Masterson, will tie a new actor to their bedroom door: Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. The production also casts two more Wilkerson children: Anthony Timpano will play the former baby Jamie, and Vaughan Murray will play Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling, teased during the original show’s final moments. It’s only a matter of time before Malcolm learns he’s no longer in the middle.
Because this is a revival, Malcolm will also introduce the new characters of Malcolm’s non-binary child, Leah (Keeley Karsten), and Malcolm’s girlfriend (Kiana Madeira). Malcolm In The Middle Age (which would be better if it was Malcolm In The Middle Ages) centers around Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), bringing the family back together for their 40th wedding anniversary. We look forward to seeing whether or not Disney cuts all mentions of Leah’s gender identity to avoid further accusations of having contracted “the woke mind virus,” which forces the infected to acknowledge that people are different.
