An armed man was seen making threats at the gate of the CIA headquarters in Virginia, leading to a large police presence that includes the Fairfax County Bomb Squad, ABC News reported.
Officials told 7News a man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at CIA headquarters. But no shots have been fired and no injuries were reported.
Newsweek has contacted Fairfax County Police Department and the CIA for comment.
The Fairfax Police Department said in a post on X that it was dealing with a “barricade incident” at the CIA HQ: “Our Special Operations Division is on scene assisting.”
A live stream from 7News shows the authorities at the scene, including armored vehicles.
Footage from the air shot by Fox 5 showed a man, believed to be the suspect, sitting alone on a bench.
Fairfax County officials told 7News the CIA is leading the investigation and the SWAT team is assisting.
Some officials were gearing up at the scene while others were gearing down, Fox 5 reported.
It is not clear what has motivated the alleged threats. There appears to be a standoff between the suspect and law enforcement.
Police said Dolley Madison Boulevard is shut down in both directions between Georgetown Park and Savile Lane in McLean.
This is a developing story and more information will be added soon.
