Pep Guardiola has once again taken the bold step of picking the players who have struggled most for form this season!
Foden, Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, Gundogan, and De Bruyne all start, as they did at Bournemouth last weekend.
There, the plan was to win a load of duels and make a load of passes, and it worked quite well: for starters they won, but even in a fairly unsteady first half they had some great chances, and in the second half Bournemouth did not have a shot on target.
So it is hard to criticise the line-up but it does still feel counter-intuitive to me as a layman, given the individual struggles of those involved, and that De Bruyne and Foden did not play particularly well last week either.
What the line-up does give them is energy on the bench: Nico Gonzalez, Savinho, and Jeremy Doku can definitely give them something if and when needed.
