LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Due to the ongoing rainfall in Jefferson County, Louisville’s Metro Sewer District announced Friday the agency’s system is at capacity.
MSD leaders have asked the public to help by limiting loads of laundry or running the dishwasher.
But most importantly, you can still flush your toilets.
If you do experience a backup anywhere in your home, you’re asked to hold off until the rain goes away to see if the water levels decrease. If the water doesn’t recede after the rain has stopped, please reach out to MSD at (502) 540-6000.
Louisville is also asked to avoid all floodwaters as sewer overflows may occur, MSD said. While it’s still raining and for 48 hours after it stops, do not fish, wade or swim in outdoor waters because of the potential contaminants. It could make you sick.
