A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Salem, Gloucester and Camden counties on Thursday afternoon as severe storms slam the state.
The warning is active through 3:45 p.m.
Severe storms hitting New Jersey have triggered numerous flood and thunderstorm warnings. An earlier tornado warning has expired.
More than 6,000 homes and businesses were already without power as of 3:10 p.m.
Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected with localized totals of 5 to 7 inches of rain possible, the National Weather Service said.
New Jersey was already under a state of emergency due to flooding concerns as of 2 p.m. A statewide flood watch runs until 6 a.m. Friday for most of the state.
