With just six games left in the NBA regular season, Minnesota Timberwolves fans are holding their breath.
During the second quarter of the Wolves’ April 3 matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, Anthony Edwards exited the game with an injury that seemed severe.

Edwards released a corner three before taking a couple steps back before stepping on Nets coach Jordi Fernandez.
Edwards was left on the ground, hugging his leg, nursing what appeared to be an ankle injury.
The game was stopped as Timberwolves medical staff examined Edwards. He was walked back to the locker room immediately, gingerly walking on his left foot.
Fernandez has faced backlash on social media for his reason for being in that spot at an ill-advised time.
The Athletics‘ Jon Krawcyznski shared a video of the play and added his two cents.
His message on X: “Weird place for Fernandez to be?”
It’s safe to say that didn’t sit well with Wolves fans.
“That’s inexcusable from Jordi Fernandez,” former Canis Hoopus managing editor Jack Borman wrote on X. “Never in my life seen that before.”
“Weird & totally inappropriate. I coached youth hoops, and any coach knows for a few reasons, you don’t walk behind a player shooting right on the sideline,” one fan wrote.
While many fans’ consensus was that it was an accident and Fernandez is surely remorseful, it has put the team in a scary position with the potential that Edwards could miss time entering the final stretch before the postseason.
“Definitely wasn’t intentional, but like damn be careful man,” one fan wrote.
Update: Edwards returned to play in the second half.
