(TNND) — New York Attorney General Letitia James, known for her high-profile legal battles against former President Donald Trump, is now facing legal troubles of her own.
James has been served a federal criminal referral for alleged mortgage fraud, according to a report by the New York Post.
The report suggests that James may have falsified records to secure home loans for a property she owns in Virginia.
Additionally, she reportedly claimed the property as her principal residence in 2023 while still serving as a New York State prosecutor.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency has also raised concerns about a property James purchased in Brooklyn in 2001.
The agency alleges that she misrepresented the property in permits and mortgage documents, claiming it was a four-unit home when it was actually a five-family dwelling.
James gained national attention for her civil fraud case against Trump, in which she argued that the Trump Organization inflated the value of its properties.
The case concluded with a $454 million judgment against Trump. James famously stated, “No one is above the law.”
