A close friend and ex-agent of NFL great John Elway is now on life support after falling from a golf cart that Elway was driving, according to a report from TMZ.
Jeff Sperbeck fell off of a golf cart that was being driven by Elway Saturday night, the website reports. Sperbeck rolled and hit his head on the asphalt, according to TMZ.
He was transferred to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California after the accident, according to the report, and was later placed on life support.
Jeff Sperbeck is a former NFL agent who represented multiple clients, including John Elway. The two later started 7Cellars Wine together.
John Elway, Jeff Sperbeck and their wives were at the Stagecoach music festival in California earlier on Saturday, per TMZ. They were reportedly leaving a post-party when Sperbeck fell off of the golf cart. Elway is not believed to have done anything wrong and cops did not respond to the scene, according to TMZ.
John Elway is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. The former Broncos star won two Super Bowls, a Super Bowl MVP and an NFL MVP during his playing career.
Elway was also named a Pro Bowler nine times. He is in both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.
After his playing days, Elway worked in the front office for the Denver Broncos for several years.
