No respect! Bookies drop colossal betting odds for Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. mismatch

Jake Paul will be making his return to the “sweet science” when he collides with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Sat., June 28, 2025 on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Their headlining affair will consist of 10, three-minute rounds sporting 10oz gloves at a weight of 200 pounds.

The press release referred to Paul as “boxing’s biggest disruptor” but the one chance “El Gallo” had to actually disrupt the sport, he failed miserably. Even so, Paul is currently the -1000 betting favorite against +500 for Cesar Chavez Jr., according to BetOnline.ag.

The moneyline opened at -300 for Paul and +240 for Chavez Jr. and bettors went nuts.

Paul Crushes ‘Owned Slave’ Canelo

“Five years ago, I stepped into the ring for my pro debut after a single amateur fight, and every fight since has been a step towards becoming world champion. I just defeated the baddest man on the planet, and now I’m going against a former champion who conman Canelo couldn’t finish,” Paul said. “Chávez Jr. is Mexican, but I, El Gallo De Dorado, have the will and heart of the great Mexican fighters. On Saturday, June 28, live on DAZN pay-per-view, I will knock out Julio and make Chávez Sr. proud in ways Jr. never has. Another massive event from Most Valuable Promotions, with some Oscar De La Hoya seasoning added to the show. Viva La Puerto Rico.”

Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) has not competed since his Mike Tyson circus last fall. As for Chavez Jr. (54-6-1, 34 KOs), he’s looking to win his third straight after defeating UFC veteran Uriah Hall at the “Fear No Man” spectacle — headlined by Paul — in summer 2024.

“First of all, I will show what I can do now that everything is in the right place in my life — mentally and physically,” Chavez Jr. said. “I feel rejuvenated and 10 years younger. Second, I want to thank MVP for taking the risk of fighting me. Unfortunately for their Problem Child, they’re going to have a big problem this June — one they won’t know how to resolve. Hopefully when I beat him, people won’t underestimate this win.”
