Pelicans Make Zion Williamson Announcement After Win Over Clippers

The New Orleans Pelicans snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night, taking down the visiting Los Angeles Clippers with a 127-120 final score at the Smoothie King Center.

The Pelicans notched their 18th win of the season with the help of a triple-double performance from star forward Zion Williamson, who finished the game with 22 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

Williamson accomplished this stat line through just 32 minutes of on-court action. The 24-year-old forward missed Sunday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies with a hamstring injury.

Williamson shot an efficient 8-13 from the field and 6-6 from the free-throw line.

Tuesday night’s performance marked the second triple-double of Williamson’s NBA career so far. The first came when he recorded 27 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in a win over the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 27.

After the final whistle blew, the Pelicans announced Williamson as their Player of the Game.

“All-Around Hooper,” the team wrote on X.

Williamson has missed a significant portion of the 2024-25 NBA season with injury issues. But when he’s healthy and on the court, he’s averaging 24.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists through just 28.4 minutes per game.

Williamson was supported by veteran guard CJ McCollum, who recorded a team-high 23 points and seven rebounds in Tuesday night’s win over the Clippers. Trey Murphy III chipped in with 21 points of his own.

The Pelicans currently hold the No. 14 seed in the Western Conference with an 18-48 record. Williamson and his squad will face off against the Orlando Magic in their next matchup on Thursday night.
