It’s official, Peter Schrager is leaving Good Morning Football.
“The rumors are true,” the sports commentator, 42, announced on the Monday, March 31 installment of the show. “Today is my last day on Good Morning Football. I end with great feelings. We’re going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show.”
Good Morning Football is the NFL Network’s resident morning TV program. The show first aired in August 2016 with Schrager as an original host.
“It has been a full decade of my life living, breathing, being Good Morning Football,” Schrager said during his goodbye message, adding that his exit was “for good reasons and a bright future.”
The day before, Schrager’s longtime co-host Kyle Brandt teased the end of an era on X. “Tomorrow, on a very special episode of Good Morning Football…,” the personality captioned a photo of Schrager.
The first several years of the show were filmed in New York City, until last year when they moved the studio to Los Angeles. Neither Schrager nor co-host Brandt made the move out west. Instead, they joined remotely from a desk in New York each day. Jamie Erdahl, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Sherree Burruss filled out the rest of the cast.

At the end of the episode, he teased viewers: “I won’t be far away, I’ll be talking about football somewhere.”
While Schrager did not share his post-Good Morning Football plans, Front Office Sports reported on March 28 that he is in talks to join ESPN. The source said Schrager would contribute to the network’s NFL Live, Stephen A. Smith’s First Take and Mike Greenberg’s Get Up.
If a deal is made in time, he may even participate in ABC and ESPN’s coverage of the 2025 NFL Draft Apr. 24 to 26. According to the report, it is also likely that Schrager will no longer make his Fox Sunday pre-game appearances.

In addition to Good Morning Football, Schrager hosted the podcast The Season with Peter Schrager, which lives under the NFL Podcast Network. It is unclear if the commentator will bring it with him to ESPN.
