Peter Schrager closed the book on nearly a decade at “Good Morning Football” on Monday morning—and in doing so, left one of his co-hosts in tears.
A founding member of the NFL Network morning show since it launched in 2016, Schrager helped establish its identity with sharp reporting, exclusive interviews, and a natural chemistry with fellow hosts like Kyle Brandt and Jamie Erdahl. But during his final episode, it was Schrager’s heartfelt goodbye to Erdahl that delivered one of the most emotional moments in the show’s history.
“This woman wakes up at two in the morning and has three children at home under the age of five, and she has become one of the faces of the NFL,” Schrager said, holding back tears. “I will tell you this, Jamie Erdahl—you deserve it all.”
Erdahl, who replaced longtime host Kay Adams in 2022, was visibly emotional during the farewell. As Schrager spoke, she placed her hands over her face and could be seen crying.
At one point, Schrager even asked the crew not to show her on camera.
“Don’t show her, I’m going to cry,” Schrager said. “Jamie Erdahl, you are the leader of the show right now, and you never have a bad attitude.”
Through tears, Erdahl responded with her hand over her heart: “I love you.”
Peter Schrager spent nine years on “Good Morning Football.”

Schrager confirmed his departure earlier in the episode, saying, “The rumors are true. Today is my last day on Good Morning Football. I end with great feelings, we’re going to celebrate today.”
While Schrager didn’t mention his next step on-air, reports indicate he’s headed to ESPN, where he’s expected to appear on shows like “NFL Live”, “First Take”, and “Get Up”, while also contributing to the network’s coverage of the NFL Draft and Super Bowl.
His exit leaves Kyle Brandt as the last original host of GMFB, marking the end of an era for the fan-favorite show.
