Scottie Scheffler is 2-for-2 converting 54-hole leads at majors into wins. Since the first Masters was held in 1934, only nine players have successfully converted their first three such opportunities, the last being Brooks Koepka (2018 U.S. Open, 2018 PGA, 2019 PGA).
This marks the sixth time that the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking has held the 54-hole lead at the PGA Championship. Tiger Woods did it four times, losing only once (thanks to Y.E. Yang in 2009), while Rory McIlroy won at Valhalla in 2014.
