Pierce Brosnan has more to say about the prospect of playing James Bond again.

The 71-year-old actor first suited up as the iconic British spy in 1995’s GoldenEye. He remained in the role until 2002’s Die Another Day, after which he turned it over to Daniel Craig. Amid questions about who will be the next actor to assume the position of Bond, Brosnan has been asked about his thoughts regarding reprising it.

During a Wednesday, April 2 appearance on the Today show, he said that he believes he “could get away with” coming back, adding, “in a pinch.”

“Let’s see where the wind takes us. Let’s see what happens. They know where to find me,” he added when asked if he was interested in staging a Bond comeback. “Why not.”

He continued, saying, “I mean, there’s great things you can do with AI as well, so there you have it. I’m quite content the way it is.”

During a March 2025 interview with GQ, Brosnan said that he was interested in making a comeback, but found it to be a “delicate situation.”

“I think it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie, really. I think so. It’s a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it’s best left to another man, really. Fresh blood,” he said at the time.

After Brosnan bid Bond farewell, Craig played him in five movies. However, he also hung up the mantle after 2021’s No Time to Die. Rumors about who could be next to play the character have surged in the years since.

Interest has reignited again following the February 2025 revelation that Amazon had assumed creative control over the franchise.

Speaking to The Telegraph in March 2025, Brosnan considered it a “given” that the next actor be British.

“I’m very proud to have been part of the history and the legacy of Bond and the movies that I made with [Bond producers] Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson]. That we moved the needle, that we brought it back to life.”
