The Philadelphia 76ers were able to pick up a 130-125 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon to begin a 6-game road trip. The win snapped a 3-game losing skid and brought Philadelphia to within five games of the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in spot in the East with 15 games to play.
Quentin Grimes led the Sixers with 28 points and six assists in his first game back in Dallas since being traded to the Sixers at the deadline. He had played 47 games with 12 starts for the Mavericks shooting 39.8% from deep and averaging 10.2 points before being sent to Philadelphia.
He was in a good mood all day as he was able to see former teammates such as Naji Marshall, PJ Washington, and others as he gave them some love after the win.
“It was great,” Grimes told reporters after the win. “I had a great relationship with everybody in that locker room. It felt great to go out there and compete against those guys.”
Grimes was also able to have good conversation with his former teammates after leading the Sixers to a win. That is the brotherhood of the NBA and it’s why he was able to take home some memorabilia from his trip to Dallas.
“Yeah, Naji,” Grimes added. “I went and got Naji’s jersey, PJ’s jersey, playing against them, talking next to him the whole game. I mean, they got—a majority of they team is hurt, but Klay (Thompson). Talking to Klay a lot. I still talk to them guys all the time. So great to see them guys.”

As for the Sixers themselves, it has been a trying season, but it is good for them to get a win. Just to get something to feel good about on the basketball court.
“It was great,” he finished. “The start of a 6-game road trip, you know? We’ve been struggling a little bit. We’re down a lot of bodies as they were as well. So just come out and play together every single 48 minutes. Just keep it rolling.”
The Sixers will now take on the Houston Rockets on Monday to continue the road trip.
