Spillane was a beloved teammate in las Vegas and many — including myself — thought there was a very good chance he would be re-signed. But the former Midwesterner left the desert and headed to the Northeast instead.

There are several Raiders players who were not re-signed prior to the start of free agency. Including a lot of defensive starters. Many of whom will receive considerable interest on the market.

After four years in Pittsburgh, Spillane broke out as a full time starter for the Raiders, putting up around 150 tackles per season in his two years in Las Vegas. And he added five interceptions as well. His departure creates a big hole to fill on the Raiders defense.
