Harshal Patel gets the wicket of Yash Dayal and that is the victory for SRH. They win the game by 42 runs. At one point, it seemed that RCB would chase the total down, but SRH made a remarkable comeback to seal the match. This will dent RCB’s hopes of a top-two finish.
SRH 231/6 (20)
RCB 189 (19.5)
Another RCB batter bites the dust! SRH need just one wicket to win this game. Coming to the dismissal, it was a fuller ball from Pat Cummins bowled outside off-stump. Krunal Pandya tried to play it but ended up hitting his stumps.
RCB 187/9 (18.4)
Pat Cummins has cleaned up Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Sunrisers Hyderabad are only two wickets or 11 balls away from victory. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 46 runs in 11 balls. Yash Dayal comes in as the next batter.
RCB 186/8 (18.1)
Eshan Malinga has got the wicket of Tim David and Royal Challengers Bengaluru now stare at defeat. The big man is gone and so is their hopes of winning this game. RCB need 53 runs in 14 balls. No offence to Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar but this is too big an ask from these two.
RCB 179/7 (17.4)
Jaydev Unadkat conceded only four runs in the over and claimed the wicket of Jitesh Sharma. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 53 runs in 18 balls. This game has nearly slipped out of their hands.
RCB 179/6 (17)
This over from Eshan Malinga could be the turning point in the match. He conceded just 7 runs in it and claimed a wicket. The pacer also effected a superb direct run-out in the over. While Rajat Patidar fell to a run-out, Romario Shepherd was caught and bowled by Eshan. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 58 runs in 24 balls.
RCB 174/5 (16)
Only four singles came off the over from Nitish Reddy and it was the first over without any boundary during the RCB innings, informed Harsha Bhogle on-air and his observation is spot-on. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 65 runs in 30 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad are still there in the game.
RCB 167/3 (15)
Jaydev Unadkat leaked 15 runs in his third over. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 69 runs in 36 balls. The asking rate is under 12 and that should not concern RCB much. The duo of Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar are doing a fine job here. They are taking this game deep without compromising with the scoring rate.
RCB 163/3 (14)
10 runs came off Harshal Patel’s third over. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 84 runs in 42 balls. The asking rate is precisely 12 for them. With hard-hitters like Tim David and Romario Shepherd yet to come, the side should chase this down.
RCB 148/3 (13)
Massive wicket for SRH! Phil Salt is gone! He shuffled across and tried to play it on the leg side, ended up getting a leading edge as the ball went too high in the air. Credit to Harshal Patel for taking the catch under pressure. Salt fell for 62 off 32 balls. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 103 runs in 52 balls.
RCB 129/3 (11.2)
Mayank Agarwal is gone! It was a good length ball from Nitish Reddy and Agarwal edged it to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. He is gone for 11 runs off 10 balls. Another poor knock this is from Agarwal as his poor season continues.
RCB 120/2 (10.4)
Phil Salt raced to his half-century in only 27 balls. It was been a superb turnaround from the batter as he started really slow. He had scored only 10 off the first 11 balls he faced but accelerated his innings really well. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 114 runs in 60 balls.
RCB 118/1 (10)
Phil Salt smashed a huge six to Harsh Dubey on the second ball of the over. 12 runs came off it. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 124 runs in 66 balls. The asking rate is sligtly over 11 which should not be a matter of much concern for them. They just need Salt to keep firing from one end.
RCB 108/1 (9)
Virat Kohli is gone but RCB continue to score quick runs. Harshal Patel was handed the ball and he ended up leaking 16 runs in the over. Phil Salt smashed a four and a six while new batter Mayank Agarwal too hit a four i it. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 136 runs in 72 balls.
RCB 96/1 (8)
Virat Kohli has been dismissed by Harsh Dubey for his individual score of 43 off 25 balls. It was a short ball outside off-stump and Kohli cut it right into the hands of the fielder at backward point. This is a massive wicket for SRH. They are back in the game!
RCB 80/1 (7)
Eshan Malinga was brought into the attack and he leaked 17 runs in his first over. Virat Kohli started the over with a superb six over the deep mid-wicket while Phil Salt continued the carnage later in the over with a four and a six. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need 160 runs in 84 balls. They are in control of the game at the moment.
RCB 72/0 (6)
Jaydev Unadkat has leaked 13 runs in his second over. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt both hit a four each in it. This is turning out to be a really good start for RCB. They haven’t lost any wicket so far and have been scoring at the rate of 11 per over. The only things they would need is Phil Salt to press his foot on accelerator. He is batting on 10 off 11 balls.
RCB 55/0 (5)
Virat Kohli smashed two fours to Harshal Patel in the over. The RCB opener is looking in terrific touch tonight, similar to what he has looked this season so far. Remember, Kohli has scored 7 fifties in 11 matches before this game this season.
RCB 42/0 (4)
This over from Pat Cummins had a lot of action. Virat Kohli pulled the second ball of the over in the air and Nitish Reddy, who was stationed much forward from the ropes, missed the catch due to his positioning. It went for a four. Later in the over, Nitish Reddy slipped again and leaked a four. 12 runs came off the over.
RCB 31/0 (3)
It was a bit expensive from Pat Cummins. He bowled a superb bouncer to Phil Salt but was unlucky for the fact that the ball hit the helmet of the batter and went behind the wicketkeeper for a four towards the third man boundary.
RCB 10/0 (1)
Virat Kohli got off the mark with a four. Pat Cummins gave him width by bowling a short delivery outside off-stump on the second ball of the over and Kohli hit it over the in-field for a four through backward point region.
Phil Salt is on the strike, Virat Kohli is at the other end. Pat Cummins has the new ball in hand. Here we go… It is an inswinging delivery from Cummins and Salt missed his pull shot. The batters still managed to steal a single through a leg-bye.
Ishan Kishan remains not out at the score of 94 off 48 balls. He slammed 7 fours and 5 sixes. It was such a mature knock from Kishan, which came at a crucial time. This match is a dead rubber for SRH, who are already eliminated, but it holds a lot of significance for RCB, who are aiming for a top-two finish. Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with figures of 2 for 14.
SRH 231/6 (20)
Lungi Ngidi bowler a back of length slower delivery to Pat Cummins on the fifth ball of the over and the right-handed batter connected it beautifully for a six. That went over the deep square leg six for a biggie. 13 runs came off the over.
SRH 216/6 (19)
A lower full toss from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishan Kishan slammed it over the long-on for a six. The shot saw SRH crossing the 200-run mark. Kishan took a single off the next ball and retained strike. It was an expensive over from Bhuvi as 15 runs came off it.
SRH 203/6 (18)
Romario Shepherd strikes again! He went for runs in this over but eventually claimed a wicket. It was another slower bouncer from the right-arm pacer and Abhinav Manohar fell to it. He hit it high in the air before Phil Salt settled under the ball, did a bit of juggling and took the catch.
SRH 188/6 (17)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar concedes 9 runs in his third over. Abhinav Manohar hit the pacer for a six on the off-side through the deep backward point. It was a poor delivery as Bhuvi bowled a short ball way outside off-stump.
SRH 177/5 (16)
Nitish Reddy is OUT! This is smart bowling from Romario Shepherd. He bowled a slower bouncer to the right-handed batter and got the wicket. Nitish failed to play the shot with control and ended up edging it the fielder at short fine leg. He is gone for 4 runs off 7 balls.
SRH 164/5 (14.2)
Ishan Kishan takes a couple of runs and races to his half-century. He gets there in just 28 balls. This is such a wonderful knock from Kishan. It never felt that he was going for big shots and yet he managed to scored a fiery fifty. The job is not done yet as Kishan needs to take his innings deep.
SRH 158/4 (13.1)
Nine runs came off the over from Lungi Ngidi. Ishan Kishan hit a four to the pacer on the third ball of the over. The southpaw is just two runs away from his half-century. He is batting on 48 off 27 balls. SRH’s scoring rate is precisely 12 and they are heading towards a massive total.
SRH 156/4 (13)
Krunal Pandya strikes! That is a big wicket for RCB as Aniket Verma, who was hurting them really hard, departs now for 26 runs off just 9 balls. He hit one four and three sixes. It was a flighted delivery from Krunal and Aniket got a edge on it. The catch was taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar at backward point.
SRH 145/4 (11.4)
Suyash Sharma leaks runs again! This time it was Aniket Verma, who smashed the bowler for two sixes and a four in the over. This is terrific piece of batting from SRH. They are sticking to their template of going for big shots and it is reaping rewards for them.
SRH 132/3 (11)
8.5 – Heinrich Klaasen is OUT! That is a superb redemption for Suyash Sharma. He was taken to the cleaners by the batter but eventually gets his wicket. Klaasen has found the fielder at long-on and departs for 24 runs off 13 balls. Virat Kohli quickly reached the spinner and gave him a pep-talk after the wicket.
SRH 103/3 (9)
Krunal Pandya was handed the ball and he did a nice job. The spinner conceded only five singles in the over. Royal Challengers Bengaluru need some over like these as SunRisers Hyderabad still have a scoring rate over 11.
SRH 89/2 (8)
Suyash Sharma bowled a flighted delivery to Heinrich Klaasen and the right-handed batter slammed it down the ground for a six. This too was an expensive over as 13 runs came off it. Sunrisers Hyderabad keep their scoring rate good. It’s 12 per over at the moment.
SRH 84/2 (7)
Heinrich Klaasen ends the powerplay with a mighty six over the deep mid-wicket to Lungi Ngidi. It went to 96 metres. SRH lost both their openers in the phase but they have eventually posted a good total in the first six overs. They need a good partnership from this point.
SRH 71/2 (6)
Another one goes down for Sunrisers Hyderabad! Travis Head is OUT! It was a back of a length ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Head failed to get it over the fielder at mid-off. He is out for 17 runs off 10 balls. RCB have got two wickets in just three balls here. Amazing comeback!
SRH 54/2 (4.2)
Lungi Ngidi has picked the wicket of Abhishek Sharma! This is a massive wicket for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as Abhishek had put their bowlers under extreme pressure. He even hit Ngidi for a six and a four but the South African pacer had the last laugh here. Abhishek is gone for 34 off 17 after flicking the ball into the hands of the fielder at deep backward square leg.
SRH 54/1 (4)
Sunrisers Hyderabad are doing it their own way and Abhishek Sharma is leading the side on the mission with his bat. He smashed Yash Dayal for a four and a six in the over that fetched SRH 13 runs. RCB badly need a wicket here.
SRH 39/0 (3)
It was an expensive over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 18 runs came off the over. Travis Head smashed a four before giving the strike to Abhishek Sharma, who then slammed a four and a big six over the deep mid-wicket. This is turning out to be a really good start for SRH!
SRH 26/0 (2)
It was a good over from Yash Dayal. He was hit for a four on the second ball of the over yet managed to keep it an economical one. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will bowl the second over. Travis Head will be on strike. Here we go…
SRH 8/0 (1)
Yash Dayal is set to bowl the first over. Abhishek Sharma is on the strike, Travis Head is at the other end. Here we go… Abhishek gets off the strike on the first ball with a single and Head then smashes a four on the off side.

“We have shown some good signs in the last few games. We are building our team for the next season. We need to play more consistently. We need to be at our best. Last game we chased down 200 comfortably. I have been bowling with Shami. We would have bowled, not sure how it will play. We have three changes. Travis Head is back, Abhinav Manohar and Unadkat are in,” said SRH captain Pat Cummins.
“It’s my first time captaining RCB. I captained PBKS against SRH last year. We are thinking to bowl first, want to take most of the surface from the moisture. We are looking forward to finish the league on top of the table and enter the playoffs. The management has taken care of the players. We have a good atmosphere and culture. We want to win every game and win the cup. Rajat Patidar is the impact player. Mayank comes in for Padikkal,” said RCB’s stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first against SunRisers Hyderabad. RCB’s regular captain Rajat Patidar didn’t show up for the toss as he is not a part of the playing XI and has been named on the list of impact players.
Not Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma is there for toss for RCB against SRH. Pat Cummins comes next to him. We are ready for the toss. Wait for the post-toss comment of the captains where we will get to know why Patidar is not here for the customary flip of the coin.
Rajat Patidar’s form took a dip just before the break. After averaging 37.2 in his first five games, he managed only 53 runs in the next five at an average of 10.6. A finger injury, sustained during the home clash against Chennai Super Kings, forced him into a splint. However, he has been batting freely in the nets once again in a promising sign for RCB heading into the business end.
Last year’s finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad, are coming off a convincing six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants and will be eager to carry that momentum and finish this forgettable season on a high. While SRH’s campaign has had flashes of brilliance, particularly from explosive openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, consistency has remained elusive, leading to their eighth position on the table. Their bowling unit, despite featuring marquee names like skipper Pat Cummins and India pacer Mohammad Shami, has struggled to deliver collectively and assert control in key moments.
The ever-reliable Virat Kohli has been in imperious form, scoring seven fifties in 11 innings and anchoring the top order with characteristic elegance. He has played a massive role in taking RCB to a comfortable position in the points table this season. Can he help the side finish at the top-two?
Tonight’s fixture, originally a home game for the Bengaluru outfit, was shifted due to the onset of monsoon. RCB was in red-hot form prior to the league’s disruption due to the India-Pakistan military conflict and the side had strung together four consecutive wins. But the momentum was halted by a washout in their first game after resumption. It will be interesting to see whether they retain their rhythm and competitive edge.
More than the game, the bigger challenge for RCB will be to reunite as a team after having a gap of nearly three weeks. RCB played their last game on May 3 (vs CSK) while their contest against KKR on May 17 was called off due to rain. This means that the side will be back in action after 20 days. This a really long gap in the tournament that runs for only two months.
Already through to the playoffs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will aim to secure a top-two league stage finish for the first time in nine years when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB haven’t finished inside the top two since the 2016 season when they signed off as runners-up eventually. However, currently second on the table with 17 points from 12 games, victories in their remaining two matches could potentially lock a top-two spot.
