Rupert Grint announces the birth of ‘secret baby’ with actress Georgia Groome

It’s a girl!

Rupert Grint and his longtime partner, the actress Georgia Groome, have welcomed their second child together, a daughter named Goldie.

“Secret Child Slightly Revealed,” Grint wrote in the caption of a photo of the infant in a Sunday Instagram post. “Introducing Goldie G. Grint. ⭐️ A 10/10 baby (so far).”

The Harry Potter star then punnily shouted out Dr. Alex Digesu, an obstetrician and gynecologist at St. Mary’s Hospital in London “for always delivering.”

Grint is best known as the actor behind Ron Weasley, the best friend to the titular character of the Harry Potter film franchise, though he more recently appeared in four seasons of the M. Night Shyamalan series Servant. Groome is best known for playing Georgia Nicolson in Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, the 2008 big screen adaptation of the beloved 1999 teen novel by Louise Rennison.

Though Grint and Groome have chosen to kept their relationship as private as possible over the years, they have reportedly been together since 2011. The couple sparked speculation they’d gotten married when spotted out together wearing matching gold rings in 2019, but a representative for the actor denied the rumors in a statement provided to The Mirror.

The couple welcomed their first child, Wednesday G. Grint, the following May. In a Nov. 2020 Instagram post — the first Grint shared to his 5.3 million followers — the actor cradled his newborn, writing, “Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.”

The birth of Goldie is welcome news for the actor after he was recently asked to fork over an additional £1.8 million (roughly $2.3 million) in unpaid taxes.

His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs found in December that Grint established a company to sell his rights to residuals from the Harry Potter films to in order to claim over £4 million in earnings as a capital asset rather than income. The tax loophole Grint was found to have exploited is the same exploited in the 1960s by The Beatles, leading to the U.K. tax provision Grint attempted to appeal to in his defense being known as the “Beatles clause.”
