Sheinelle Jones’ Former Today Co-Hosts Hoda Kotb and Tamron Hall React to Husband’s Death from Brain Cancer

  • The death of Sheinelle Jones’ longtime husband Uche Ojeh was announced on the Today show on May 23, as Savannah Guthrie revealed he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer
  • Following the announcement, Jones shared a clip from Today to her Instagram to thank her colleagues for their “love and support,” and tributes flooded in through the comments section for Jones and her kids
  • Among those who expressed their love were two of Jones’ former co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Tamron Hall

The Today show family of past and present is showing up for Sheinelle Jones following her husband’s death.

Savannah Guthrie announced on the May 23 broadcast that Jones’ husband Uche Ojeh had died after an aggressive brain cancer diagnosis. He was 45.

Jones, 47, who has been absent from Today since mid-December, shared the segment from the show to her Instagram, writing, “Thank you, for all your love and support ❤️”

In the comments section, her former co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Tamron Hall were among those who expressed their love. “Holding you and your babies Sheinelle 🙏,” wrote Kotb, who exited Today after 17 years in January.

Hall, who left Today in 2017, wrote that her “prayers and love are with you and your family” in the comments section.

Today alum Katie Couric shared her own post for Jones, as she wrote that she’s “sending so much love, support and sympathy to @sheinelle_o following the loss of her beloved husband Uche after a valiant struggle with glioblastoma.”

“My heart is breaking for her and their three children. Please hold them in your hearts. Love you Sheinelle. 💔” she added.

Guthrie, 53, and Dylan Dreyer also offered their condolences again to Jones in the comments of her post, with Guthrie calling Ojeh “an extraordinary person” who was “full of light and heart and faith.”

“Sheinelle, my dearest, we love you and the kids with all of our hearts. I marvel at your strength. You are surrounded by love now and forever. ❤️” Guthrie wrote.

Dreyer wrote that she’s “hoping you can find peace in the love and prayers that surround you and your incredible children. I’m so lucky to have known Uche and his spirit lives on in your family.”

Selma Blair also commented, sending “only strength and love to you and yours.”

Jones and Ojeh were married for 18 years prior to his death after his glioblastoma diagnosis. They share three kids: Kayin, 15, and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche.
