Strong thunderstorms head toward NE Ohio, forecasters say

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A strong band of thunderstorms is heading into Northeast Ohio Sunday night and could generate winds up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service issued a statement at about 10:40 p.m. saying radar shows the storms stretched along a line from near Euclid to North Royalton to Lodi.

Communities that could be impacted by the storms include Cleveland, Akron, Medina, Painesville, Willowick, Chardon, Fairport Harbor, Parma, Cuyahoga Falls, Euclid, Mentor, Cleveland Heights, Strongsville, Brunswick, North Royalton, Barberton, Solon, Willoughby, Hudson, and Wadsworth.

The Weather Service warns strong winds from the storms could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured items outside.

There were no reports of widespread power outages in Northeast Ohio as of 10:50 p.m.
