A teenager was stabbed and suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning at West Potomac High School in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, police said.
The teenager was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, and another teen was arrested, the Fairfax County Police Department posted to X.
Authorities did not immediately say where on the property the incident occurred or provide additional details about the altercation. A Fairfax County schools spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a post on Facebook, the West Potomac High School PTSA said the school had been placed on a “Stay Put, Stay Tuned safety protocol following an isolated incident at the school that has been contained.”
This is a developing story and will be updated.
