Watch: Jenny McCarthy Teases Surprising Miley Cyrus Tribute on ‘Masked Singer’ (Exclusive)
The Masked Singer‘s final four contestants sure have luck on their side.
The Fox singing competition series was rocked by a shocking twist during the semi-finals on April 30.
With only Coral, Boogie Woogie, Mad Scientist and Pearl left in the musical battle, it was time for the judges and viewers to decide which three would advance to the season 13 finale. Or was it?
Right as host Nick Cannon was about to reveal if either Coral or Boogie Woogie were going to be eliminated, a new colorful character interrupted the show and had everyone—including judges Rita Ora, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy—completely confused.
Enter Lucky Duck, a new mystery celebrity who really wanted to spice up the competition before the finale.
“I’ve been breaking into this competition all season long and I’ve decided to dust off this old lucky bell,” Lucky Duck announced. “Because tonight, both of you…are safe! You are both going to the finale. Neither of you are getting unmasked tonight, so head backstage. You have a finale to prepare for.”
The twist completely caught the judges off guard, with Jenny excitedly exclaiming, “Really?! I’m so glad!” and Robin noting, “That’s a first!”
But the surprises weren’t over, as Lucky Duck teased, “And I’m not done. The biggest surprise of all isn’t that they are unmasking, it’s that I am.”
The anonymous star then shared some hints about his true identity.
“I’ve been bringing luck since the beginning, and during my time here, I’ve left no stone unturned. But one mystery still remains: Who am I?” Lucky Duck teased in a video package. “As good as I am, this detective-ing thing is only a hobby. I spend most of my time on massive movie sets. Yes, even bigger than The Hangover. There’s not an Oscar I don’t know.”
Lucky Duck then wowed the crowd by doing a choreographed dance to Queen‘s “I Want to Break Free” surrounded by backup dancers. And the star’s nimble dance moves truly impressed everyone.
As a perplexed Rita said, “I need to know who this is, it’s completely killing me!”
Little did Rita know, it was someone she’s very close with. When it came time for the unmasking, Lucky Duck revealed himself to be Oscar-winning filmmaker—and Rita’s husband—Taika Waititi!

“I’m a pop star, America!” the Jojo Rabbit director quipped, before jokingly adding that he wanted to be on the show because it was “the only way” he was able to see Rita. “You guys got her working so hard, I never get to see her.”
He added, “How I kept the secret? She’s always here.”
