Los Angeles Clippers Predicted To Adopt Warriors Strategy For ’25-’26 Season

The Los Angeles Clippers‘ recent surge, winning 10 of their last 13 games, reflects their determination to secure a playoff spot and avoid the Play-In Tournament. A key factor in their success has been the exceptional performance of Kawhi Leonard, who has elevated his game, averaging 25.3 points on 54.2% shooting, 7.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.1 steals in his last 10 appearances. James Harden also played a crucial role in maintaining the team’s momentum during Leonard’s absence, and his future with the Clippers is now a topic of discussion.

According to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, Harden is likely to extend his stay in Los Angeles. Pincus suggests that the Clippers’ approach mirrors that of the Golden State Warriors with Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, prioritizing the alignment of Harden with Leonard’s contract.

“Long-term, it’s hard to say which of the Clippers’ players need to be on the roster in a few years. A reset may eventually come, but it looks like L.A.’s path is similar to that of the Warriors with Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. The Clippers would likely prioritize lining up Harden with Leonard’s final year in 2026-27,” Pincus wrote.

Pincus further predicts that Harden will decline his $36.3 million player option in favor of a two-year deal, aligning his contract with Leonard’s. “Look for Harden to decline his $36.3 million player option to get a similar figure but on a two-year deal to line up with Leonard, perhaps at $72-75 million,” he concluded.

It appears Harden has found a long-term home in his native Los Angeles. After contributing to the Philadelphia 76ers’ playoff success, he joined the Clippers in October 2023. Despite being 35, Harden’s current averages of 22.5 points, 8.6 assists, and 5.8 rebounds demonstrate his continued ability to perform at a high level.

If Leonard and Harden can maintain their health, and with a strong supporting cast, the Clippers are poised to be formidable contenders in the competitive Western Conference for the next few seasons.
