Tornado Warning issued for Christian and Doulgas counties

A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Christian and Douglas counties in Missouri.

These areas are currently under a tornado warning until 4:45 p.m.

  • Eastern Christian County in Missouri
  • Northwestern Douglas County in Missouri

The National Weather Service in Springfield says a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado has been spotted 11 miles west of Ava, heading northeast at 55 mph.

A tornado watch is also in effect for most of southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas until 7 p.m.

The tornado warning in Cedar and Lawrence County has expired as of 3:30 p.m., but there is still some tornado risk expected later this afternoon.
