This is the UFC Kansas City live blog for Ian Machado Garry vs. Carlos Prates, the welterweight main event on Saturday at T-Mobile Center.

Currently No. 7 in the UFC welterweight rankings, Garry is coming off the first loss of his career, but perhaps the most significant performance. In December, Garry stepped in on short notice against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310, and lost a highly competitive decision to the undefeated talent. This time, Garry hopes to get the win as he takes on another surging prospect with tons of heat behind him, and does so on relatively short notice.

The runaway winner for MMA Fighting 2024 Rookie of the Year award, Prates picked up four wins in his debut year with the UFC, all by stoppage and all of them earning him Performance of the Night honors. Prates looks to add one more to his impressive run, and hopefully this one puts the Fighting Nerds fighter on the cusp of a title shot.
