After testing the waters with a handful of comeback shows, Brand New have made their return official by announcing their first tour since Jesse Lacey faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor in 2017 and issued a statement admitting they were true. Likely anticipating the backlash, it appears that venues booked on the tour have turned off the comments on social media posts promoting the shows.
The 24-date North American tour includes venues like LA’s Shrine Expo Hall, Austin’s Moody Center, Allstate Arena just outside of Chicago, the Mann Center in Philadelphia, and what’s essentially a hometown show at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.
Consequence has reached out to theses venues for comment.
In November 2017, a woman accused Lacey of soliciting nudes from her when she was just 15 and he was 24. Just a day later, Lacey posted a statement admitting the allegations were true.
“I do not stand in defense of myself nor do I forgive myself,” he said. “I was selfish, narcissistic, and insensitive in my past, and there are a number of people who have had to shoulder the burden of my failures. I apologize for the hurt I have caused, and hope to be able to take the correct actions to earn forgiveness and trust.”
That same month, another woman also stepped forward with a similar account of “sexual harassment, manipulative behavior, and child grooming.”
Last December, Brand New reunited at a private charity event in Nashville limited to friends and family. Earlier this month, the band played their first official return shows in Dallas, Nashville, and Newport, Kentucky.
Their comeback is just the latest example of why our own Jonah Krueger called 2025 the Year of the Uncancellation.
