Victim released from hospital as two remain in serious condition after Walmart stabbing

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — One of the Walmart stabbing victims has been released the hospital and now only two of the remaining 10 are in serious condition, according to Munson Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tom Schermerhorn.

Schermerhorn along with a slew of Grand Traverse County officials held a press conference Sunday afternoon after a man, identified as Bradford Gille, 42 of Afton Michigan, allegedly stabbed 11 at the Traverse City Walmart.

Sheriff Mike Shea at a Sunday press conference said Gille has a history of assaultive incidents and controlled substance violations. Shea described the weapon as a 3.5 inch folding knife.

Community members impacted by the mass stabbing at the Walmart in Traverse City are being offered free counseling services.

The free counseling services will be offered at Northwestern Michigan College Innovation Center, which is next to the Cedar parking lot on campus.

Counselors will be at NMC Monday – Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Counseling may be extended if needed.
