  • Walton Goggins publicly supported a Saturday Night Live skit that mocked his The White Lotus costar and onscreen love interest Aimee Lou Wood
  • Wood dubbed her portrayal in the skit as “mean and unfunny,” though she defended Sarah Sherman, who played her in it
  • Goggins’ reaction to the clip comes amid unsubstantiated rumors that he and Wood are feuding behind the scenes

Walton Goggins came out in support of a controversial Saturday Night Live skit that parodied The White Lotus — and made fun of his costar Aimee Lou Wood amid rumors that they are feuding.

During the April 12 episode of the late-night show, a pre-recorded skit titled “White Potus” put a political spin on the popular drama series. After it aired, Wood, 31, dubbed it “mean and unfunny” because of its portrayal of her, which poked fun at her teeth.

While she was not a fan, Goggins, 53, came out in support of the video. He left a comment on SNL’s Instagram account, where he wrote: “Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg.”

The actor also shared the video on his Instagram Stories, according to reporting by Page Six.

“Smashing,” he wrote in the post. He also singled out guest host Jon Hamm, who played a version of his character Rick, joking, “Jon… I knew I was miscast.”

Meanwhile, Wood addressed her portrayal in a series of posts on her Instagram Stories. “Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” she opined, adding that she had received support from “thousands” who shared her point of view.

She later wrote that she had “received apologies” from SNL but did not provide more specifics.

The actress also defended SNL castmate Sarah Sherman, who played a version of her White Lotus character Chelsea in the skit. “Not @sarahsquirm ‘s fault,” she wrote. “Not hating on her, hating on the concept.”

Wood, amid this, received public support from his makeup artist sister Emily, who shared a statement on her Instagram Stories alongside a photo of the pair. “My 🌎 @aimeelouwood. She is out here personifying the word POWERHOUSE. The admiration I have for this woman is nuts. Beyond comprehension. JUST like my feelings of animalistic protection over her,” Emily began.

Calling her “the greatest big sister” and “my best human on the planet,” Emily added, “Her authenticity and originality is incomparable. My god we are really madly blessed to experience life on earth at the same time as her.”

Sharing her sister’s statement, the Sex Education alum wrote, “I love you Emily.”

The costars’ dissenting views on the skit come as some fans speculate that there is bad blood between Goggins and Wood.

Rumors of a feud picked up steam as fans realized that the pair does not follow each other on social media. The pair also did not tag one another in posts reflecting on their characters’ fates after the season 3 finale aired.

Despite the speculation, their costar Jason Isaacs said that fan theories online about the cast’s relationships were not correct during an appearance on The Happy Hour on SiriusXM’s TODAY Show Radio.

“Like anywhere you go for the summer, there’s friendships, there’s romances, there’s arguments, there’s cliques that form and break and reform and stuff like that,” he reflected. “I’m careful. I’m not stupid. I look at the Internet. I only read every single word written about The White Lotus and about everybody in it.”

Isaacs continued, adding, “Nobody has the slightest clue what they’re talking about.”

Seasons 1-3 of The White Lotus are streaming in full on Max.
