LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Monterey’s Aaliyah Chavez signed on with the Oklahoma Sooners Tuesday afternoon inside the Monterey High School Auditorium.

Chavez, the No. 1 player in the class of 2025, was recently named the Gatorade Girl’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Before wrapping up her senior year, she helped guide the Lady Plainsmen to the state title, one of the only trophies that was missing for the five-star guard.

She’s been named a McDonald’s All-American and has multiple player of the year award including the Naismith Player of the Year award along with the mentioned Gatorade honor.
