Watches and Wonders 2025: Rolex introduces the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller

The Flat Jubilee bracelet, a reinterpretation of the Jubilee bracelet, retains the same five-piece link structure but is different in that all the links are flat. A patented attachment system has been developed for the seamless integration of the Flat Jubilee bracelet with the Oyster case, incorporating ceramic inserts for the first time to protect the spring bar and prevent premature wear.

The heartbeat is calibre 7135, which is thinner than most Rolex movements but offers an exceptional performance. It is equipped with the Dynapulse, a sequential distribution escapement in silicon that enhances energy delivery.

The regulating system showcases exceptional resistance to strong magnetic fields. At its core, the oscillator features a balance staff crafted from a patented high-technology ceramic. This remarkably strong and resilient material is produced in-house using femtosecond laser ablation, a proprietary process currently under patent application.

Complementing this innovation, the balance wheel is made from optimised brass—an alloy used by Rolex for the first time—offering enhanced magnetic resistance. The movement also incorporates a Syloxi hairspring with reshaped, thickened coils, providing greater rigidity and reinforcing the power of the patented silicon hairspring, which enables the calibre to beat at 5 Hz and maintain superior chronometric precision regardless of the wearer’s movements.

Two optimised Paraflex shock absorbers protect the ceramic balance staff. Positioned at both ends of the staff, these shock absorbers feature an enhanced leaf spring that guarantees optimal repositioning after impact.

With 32 patent applications, the Land-Dweller represents a significant milestone for Rolex, setting the stage for future innovation.
