Wisconsin wasn’t expected be the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten tournament before the season started. Projections were much lower.
However, two weeks before the season ended, the Badgers (23-8 overall, 13-7 in the Big Ten) weren’t planning on holding the fifth position either. They still hoped to challenge for a league title.
But a 2-3 finish in its last five games meant UW missed clinching a top-four seed and a double tournament bye. Instead, it’ll face 13th-seed Northwestern (17-15, 7-13) on Thursday afternoon in Indianapolis. Guard Max Klesmit missed three of those five games. Klesmit is expected to return against Northwestern.
