Starbucks are being required to adapt to a new dress code, the company announced, that includes specific colors.
The coffee chain is introducing the new dress code to emphasize its green aprons, which employees have worn since 1987, Starbucks announced.
“By updating our dress code, we can deliver a more consistent coffeehouse experience that will also bring simpler and clearer guidance to our partners, which means they can focus on what matters most, crafting great beverages and fostering connections with customers,” the company said.

What is the update to the Starbucks dress code?
The new dress code focuses on top and bottom colors that coordinate with the company’s green aprons, Starbucks said.
For tops, employees will be asked to wear a short-sleeved or long-sleeved, solid black crewnecks, or collared or button-up shirts.
Pants may be any shade of khaki, black or blue denim bottoms.

How does the change fit with the CEO’s plans?
The uniform update comes as the chain continues to emphasize a specific aesthetic at its locations.
At a shareholder meeting in March, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol discussed the company’s “Back to Starbucks” strategy, which includes testing new store designs at “select locations across the U.S.”

Niccol said the store designs include bringing back condiment bars, serving in-store coffee in ceramic mugs and having baristas write on cups with Sharpies.
“We’re working hard to ensure our coffeehouses have the right vibe,” Niccol said at the meeting. “We want to invite customers in, showcase our great coffee, provide a comfortable place to stay, and make them feel like their visit was time well spent.”
