It’s Opening Day — and for the first time, the Rays are calling Steinbrenner Field home.
Why it matters: The Rays have never played home games outdoors, and with that change comes a learning curve for both the team and its fans, including the potential for the franchise’s first official rain delay.
Here are a few things to keep in mind this season.
👜 New bag policy: The Rays now have a clear-bag policy at Steinbrenner Field: one clear bag per person.
- Small clutches, wallets, and fanny packs that aren’t clear are still allowed. Diapers and medical equipment are also exceptions.
🌦️ Weather check: The team launched a new webpage that helps fans track the weather before and during games.
☀️ Sunscreen + hydration: Be on the lookout for free sunscreen kiosks and hydration stations.
- Fans can bring one sealed 20-ounce bottle or a reusable plastic one. Metal, aluminum and glass bottles aren’t allowed.
