Frisco police officials released few details, citing the ongoing investigation, but said an altercation between two students resulted in one stabbing the other.
Frisco ISD notified parents that the stadium was immediately secured and students were sent back to their home campus.
Student who died was football, track athlete
The student, identified as Austin Metcalf, 17, died as a result of his injuries, school district officials wrote in an email to parents.

He died despite efforts to save his life, including CPR, by police and fire personnel, police said in a news release.
Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that Austin was stabbed in front of his twin brother, Hunter. Jeff Metcalf said his son died in his brother’s arms.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding and he died in his brother’s arms,” Jeff Metcalf said. “I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell — they said he wasn’t breathing.”
Austin was a junior at Memorial High School, where he participated in football and track, the email sent to parents on Wednesday said.
“Tomorrow morning, we will acknowledge Austin’s death during 2nd period and will offer support throughout the day,” the email said. “District and campus counselors will be available to support your child through the grieving process.”

Austin’s father told NBC5 that his son had a 4.0 GPA and was the MVP of the school’s football team. Jeff Metcalf also said Austin was an avid hunter, and he, Austin and Hunter often went on family hunting trips together.
“He was on the right track,” Jeff Metcalf said. “He was loved by many. He was a leader.”
The family has started a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.
Who was arrested?
Karmelo Anthony, 17, of Frisco is facing a murder charge in connection to the stabbing, police said.
Anthony was in custody with no bail set as of Wednesday afternoon, police said. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
Murder is a first-degree felony punishable with life in prison or confinement for five to 99 years.
Which schools were at the meet?
