White Lotus fan theory claims to reveal who’s going to die in finale

A new theory predicts who will die in the season finale of White Lotus – and it’s all based on her baubles.

In the past, the costume designer has hinted about what will happen to characters based on their clothing.

Before hooking up with Valentin, actress Jaclyn (played by Michelle Monaghan) wore plenty of Valentino emblazoned with the brand name to show where she was heading.

Another massive hint for season two viewers was when fan favorite Tanya McQuoid (played by Jennifer Coolidge) donned a dress in the finale dress that linked her to a doomed character from The Godfather.

Content creator Tara Gonzalez, who’s a fashion editor based in New York City, explained this tiny outfit detail could foreshadow a bleak ending for Chelsea, who has quickly become a fan favorite this season.

Chelsea’s $10,081 Stay Gold diamond pendant from LunaFlo London might appear innocent at first, but it’s based on a memorable quote from The Outsiders.

The website’s description reads: ‘Inspired by the 1983 film The Outsiders, a story of loyalty and the search for meaning, the Stay Gold Pendant and Golden Tag Necklace reimagines the classic dog tag as a symbol of hope and staying true to oneself.’

It’s a tribute to the line ‘Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay sold,’ which is originally from Robert Frost’s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay.

The famous line from S.E. Hinton’s 1976 novel, which is required reading in many schools, is spoken by Johnny Cade to Ponyboy Curtis as he’s dying as a reminder to hold onto his goodness.

Like Ponyboy, Chelsea has offered a sense of balance throughout White Lotus, often offering advice to trust fund kid Saxon Ratliff (played by Patrick Schwarzenegger) and proclaiming her unending love for her much older boyfriend Rick Hatchett, played by Walton Goggins.

‘This is a character that I need to make it out of Thailand unscathed,’ Tara said on TikTok, adding that she hopes Chelsea lives ‘happily ever after’ – which is never promised in Mike White’s vacation world.

The viral theory quickly took off, with ‘worried’ commenters declaring it sounded likely their favorite character would meet an untimely end.

‘She said “bad things comes in threes” and “I’ve almost died twice” – my money is on Chelsea,’ one commenter theorized, as Chelsea almost died during the robbery and from the snake bite.

‘OBVIOUSLY she’s going to die! She was the most LOYAL, most KIND and a literal MARTYR and is foretelling that it comes in threes,’ another viewer predicted.

While Chelsea wears plenty of designer pieces from brands like J.W. Anderson and Valentino, the necklace still stands out for its hefty price tag.

Costume designer Alex Bovaird previously said, ‘Chelsea is a free spirit and a fun-loving British girl who has an eclectic wardrobe made up of market finds, vintage pieces and some designer bits from a few years back.’

In a separate interview, Alex explained that the idea with her character was that she hadn’t been home in a while, so ‘she looks a little more worn and funky.’

To pair a $10,000 necklace with T-shirts and boho crocheted cover-ups could certainly hint at what’s to come.

After Sunday’s episode, where Chelsea’s boyfriend Rick finally approached his father’s alleged killer Jim Hollinger with a gun, fans were left more terrified than ever… especially since he didn’t warn his girlfriend to leave the hotel.

The fan theory looked even more likely heading into next Sunday night’s finale on HBO.
