Fans were quick to speculate that a new Hollywood romance may be brewing between Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell after the two were spotted together in Texas this past weekend, but a source has come forward to clear the air.

According to photos shared by celebrity gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi, the former Anyone But You costars were seen at a restaurant in Dallas, where they were attending the rehearsal dinner for the wedding of Powell’s sister, Leslie Powell. (Leslie also worked on Anyone But You.) The sighting came days after Sweeney reportedly called off her wedding to Jonathan Davino, a restaurateur who she has been engaged to since 2022.

A source for TMZ said that Sweeney had RSVP’d to the wedding months ago, prior to news of her ended engagement, and that she attended Leslie’s nuptials with her best friend, not Powell. Sweeney is “very good friends with the Powell family” and, in particular, has been “very close” with Leslie “for a long time.”

This isn’t the first time that Powell and Sweeney have been caught up in dating rumors. While promoting their 2023 romcom, the actors admitted to leaning into the bit to amplify interest in the movie.

“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry,” Powell previously told The New York Times. “Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry. That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit—and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”

Sweeney also addressed the rumors in a 2023 interview with Variety. “It’s a rom-com,” she said. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much.”
