Winning $167.3 million Powerball ticket, largest in state lottery history, sold in Kentucky

MUCH. APPRECIATE THAT. HEY, WE WERE JUST CHATTING ABOUT THIS GREAT THING THAT’S HAPPENED IN THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY TEACHERS ENDURES. SO MUCH. AND A TEAM OF THEM ARE GOING TO BE REWARDED FOR ALL THEY GO THROUGH. IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE I GOT A TWEET THE OTHER NIGHT, A PRIVATE MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND SAID, HEY, REMEMBER HOW YOU SAID WE HAVEN’T FOUND OUT WHO THE WINNER IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY WAS? MILLION DOLLAR WINNER. THERE ARE 30 OF THEM. SO THIS IS THAT LOTTERY TICKET. IT WAS WORTH $1 MILLION. HEBRON IS CLAIMING IT WITH 30 TEACHERS. YEAH, WE NEWS 5 MEGAN MITCHELL WENT OUT TO FLORENCE, KENTUCKY TODAY TO MEET THE WINNERS AT R.A. JONES MIDDLE SCHOOL. TO ME, IT’S STILL A LITTLE SURREAL. IT’S THE TEACHERS LOUNGE IS BUZZING. WELL, I TOLD MY MOM MONDAY NIGHT AND SHE’S GETTING A NEW FLOOR PUT INTO HER CONDO RIGHT NOW. AND I SAID, MOM, I’M PAYING FOR YOUR FLOOR. NOT ABOUT LESSON PLANS, ABOUT LOTTERY PLANS. AND SHE SAID, YOU DON’T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. I SAID, MOM, I JUST WON THE LOTTERY. SHE. 30 EDUCATORS, BOTH ACTIVE AND RETIRED FROM THE SCHOOL, WON BIG ON $1 MILLION TICKET IN THE POWERBALL LOTTERY. I WON. FOR 14 YEARS. THE GROUP HAS AN ORGANIZED SYSTEM WHERE THEY ALL PITCH IN FOR TICKETS EVERY COUPLE WEEKS OR SO. A FEW DAYS AGO, DISBELIEF. OH MY GOSH, WE’VE WON. YOU’RE RIGHT. WHAT DID WE WIN? SHE GOES, SHE GOES, REYNOLDS I THINK WE WON $1 MILLION. AND I’M LIKE, YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. ONE OF THE FUNNIEST PARTS ABOUT THIS STORY IS THAT RETIRED EDUCATOR WAS SO NERVOUS THAT SOMEONE WAS GOING TO COME AND STEAL THIS MILLION DOLLAR TICKET THAT SHE THOUGHT, WHERE’S THE LAST PLACE THAT SOMEONE WOULD LOOK IN A MATH TEXTBOOK? SO SHE TURNED IT TO PAGE 200, TEXTED THE GROUP, PUT THE TICKET IN AND DIDN’T OPEN IT BACK UP UNTIL SHE CASHED IT IN ON A YEARLY BASIS. HOW MUCH OF YOU WOULD SAY YOU SPEND MORE, MORE THAN $1,000 OUT OF YOUR POCKET? WE WORK EXTRA JOBS FOR, YOU KNOW, TO PAY OUR BILLS. WE WORK, YOU KNOW, WE JUST LOOK FOR IT ANYWHERE THAT WE CAN GET IT. AND IT’S JUST IT’S AMAZING JUST TO HAVE JUST A LITTLE BIT OF RELIEF FOR A SECOND. SOME BREATHING ROOM. THESE TEACHERS, COUNSELORS AND STAFF COULDN’T FULLY STRESS HOW MUCH THEY LOVE THIS COMMUNITY. ONCE A JET, ALWAYS A JET. THAT’S OUR MOTTO. THEY SAY R.A. JONES IS THE MOST DIVERSE SCHOOL IN BOONE COUNTY. STUDENTS SPEAKING 21 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. A CHALLENGE, YES, BUT THIS $24,000 PRIZE FOR EACH ONE OF THEM STILL COMES SECOND TO THE REWARD OF TEACHING THEIR KIDS. AND SO IT WASN’T THE MONETARY AS MUCH AS IT WAS THE SYMBOL BEHIND US BEING FAMILY AND US DOING THIS TOGETHER, THE CAMARADERIE FOR OUR KIDS. YEAH, WINNING THE LOTTERY EVEN BEFORE ALL THE NUMBERS WERE DRAWN
