WWE has sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling industry with its unprecedented acquisition of AAA.

Ever since WWE was acquired by TKO, along with the creative power of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the top wrestling company has been more willing to work with other promotions. More recently, WWE has partnered with TNA Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

The company ended up making two surprising announcements mere hours before “WrestleMania 41” in Las Vegas. During the countdown show for night one of “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” Michael Cole announced that WWE has purchased long-running Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. This announcement followed the reveal that “WWE NXT” and AAA will be having a crossover event on June 7.

Fans have reacted to the acquisition on X. User “DominicHorne.eth” wondered if this will ultimately prove to be a positive move for AAA.

“WWE acquiring AAA is a huge step! Just not sure if it’s a good or bad thing for AAA, personally I’m conflicted. Yet, it is what it is.”

It’s major news during “WrestleMania” Saturday, and it’s left many wondering what this could mean for AAA. For years, many viewed AAA as Mexico’s version of WWE, focusing more on the spectacle of wrestling than CMLL. It also has fans wondering if another international promotion could soon be in WWE’s grasp.

The aforementioned business dealings between WWE and Pro Wrestling NOAH have led to the likes of AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura returning to Japan for marquee matches. Some have speculated that WWE could be looking to acquire NOAH next, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
